The School Education Department of the Arunachal Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Union Ministry of Education to bring a large-scale transformation in school education, establish the PM SHRI schools and strengthen the infrastructure of existing schools managed by state/local bodies.
Taking to Twitter, the Arunachal Chief Minister – Pema Khandu wrote “The visionary leadership of Hon PM Shri @narendramodi Ji is taking the education to a new high. Glad that an MoU was signed between @DselEduMinistry, @EduMinOfIndia and School Education Dept, Govt of Arunachal, to set up #PMSHRI Schools in the State, today.”
“As envisaged under #PMSHRI scheme, the existing schools managed by State & local bodies would be strengthened to deliver quality teaching for cognitive development of students. The schools would act as exemplar institutions to offer mentorship to others schools in the vicinity.” – he added.

These PM SHRI (PM ScHools for Rising India) schools will showcase all components of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and act as exemplar schools. It will offer mentorship to other schools in their vicinity. It aims to deliver quality teaching for cognitive development among students.
The centrally sponsored scheme will provide high-quality education in an equitable, inclusive and joyful school environment.
These schools will incorporate environment-friendly aspects, like solar panels and LED lights, nutrition gardens with natural farming, waste management, plastic-free, water conservation, and harvesting, the study of traditions/practices related to the protection of the environment, climate-change-related hackathon and awareness generation to adopt a sustainable lifestyle.
The pedagogy adopted in these schools will be more experiential, holistic, integrated, inquiry-driven, discovery-oriented, learner-centered, discussion-based, flexible, and enjoyable.
