The Arunachal Deputy Chief Minister – Chowna Mein, instructs the concerned authorities to chalk out a roadmap for tourism development in the frontier state.
Addressing a meeting with the officials of the Tourism Department on Friday, Mein cited that tourism will emerge as a massive industry in the future, enhancing the state’s economy and leading to the highest revenue generation.
It is an urgent need to prepare a roadmap to tap the tourism potential, and therefore asked the tourism department to “come up with a roadmap to take it to the next level.”
He added that the concerned roadmap would be tabled in the upcoming budget session, reiterating to “promote the rich cultures and historic sites of the state to the outside world, ease the process of issuing Inner Line Permits (ILPs) and restricted area permits to tourists.”
During the meeting, the Minister of Tourism – Nakap Nalo, noted that “The COVID-19 outbreak interrupted the initial flow of tourism. However, the department strives to streamline the sector and will leave no stone unturned to advance its potential to greater heights.”
The Secretary of the Tourism Department – Sadhana Deori, informed that the department aims to develop high value & low-volume tourism model emphasizing extensive marketing and promotion of tourism products.
It will also develop high-quality and need-based infrastructure on subsidy, and revenue sharing model, improve the existing tourism products and create new tourism attractions for better revenue generation.
“Creation of skilled human workforce is the need of the hour to support and sustain the growth of tourism in the state,” – she stated.
The meeting was attended by Tourism Minister – Nakap Nalo, Advisor to Minister of Tourism – Laisam Simai, Advisor to Minister of Power Department – Balo Raja, Secretary of Tourism Department – Sadhana Deori, Additional Secretary (Planning) – R K Sharma, Director of Tourism Department – Abu Tayeng.
