The Governor of Assam & Nagaland – Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, visited the Avankhung village under the Meluri Sub-Division of Phek District on Saturday and conducted a series of interaction meetings with the District Officials from various departments, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)/Hohos of Pochuri tribe.

He instructed the officials to handle the developmental flagship policies in sincerity for the upliftment of Farmers’ income, enquired about the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM)’ for drinking water supply, Rural Housing Schemes, Rural Electrification programmes, Policy for Farmers double income, Education Policies in the state.

Prof. Mukhi urged the officials to ensure the timely implementation of flagship schemes and said that various programme/schemes should reach the concerned citizens for the development of the state and nation.

He remarked, “the National income would automatically increase when the income of our farmers come up double.”

The Governor asked the concerned departmental officials and District Administration to monitor whether the farmers’ incomes are increasing through Flagship Schemes implemented to double the income of cultivators. He stated that education does not mean teaching only Book knowledge, but imparting education in the mother tongue till primary standard to promote culture and tradition so that it would create a feeling of unity and patriotism for the greater interest of our nation.”

Under the Agricultural sector, the Governor asked the concerned department officers and District Administration to monitor whether the farmers’ incomes are increasing through the Flagship Schemes for the farmers’ double income Policy.

The Governor urged upon Pochuri Hoho and Pochuri Women Hoho to preserve their own culture and tradition, which is of utmost importance for the future.

As per Hoho’s demand for the upgradation of the Meluri Sub-Division to the District, the Governor informed that the state government is taking care of the matter.

He also conducted an interactive meeting with the Police and Assam Rifles for the proper Security condition of the state. Besides, the Governor also conducted interaction meetings with the business community of the Pochuri people.
