Tripura: 4,102 BRU Families Resettled In 12 Locations; Geo-Mapping Software Launched To Obtain Location-Based Data

Agartala, October 29, 2022: In accordance to the quadripartite agreement, 4,102 families of BRU people out of 6,951 families have been resettled in Tripura, said Principal Secretary of the Revenue department Puneet Agarwal on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference at Civil Secretariat here in Agartala city on Saturday afternoon, Principal Secretary Agarwal said “So far, 4,102 families of BRU people have been resettled in the state and permanent resettlement of the remaining families at 12 identified locations in the state is underway which will be completed by February 28, 2023.”

He said that there are 37,136 members of 6,951 families of BRU people sheltered in Tripura. All of them will be resettled at 12 identified locations in the state. He also shed light on the benefits that the BRU are getting and will be provided to them, starting from voting rights, free ration cards, as per the agreement between the Government of India Tripura and Mizoram Government and the BRU organization.

He said that the rehabilitation centers will have facilities like roads, electricity, purified drinking water, health services, etc. He said financial assistance to these families is also being provided through DBT.

On the other hand, Agarwal said that the infrastructural development of the Khowai and Sepahijala districts’ administration offices has been done under the NLCPR project where Rs 42.20 crore have been paid. In the financial year 2022-23, 42 new Tehsil Kacharis will be constructed along with the improvement of 112 Tehsil Kacharis under the Special Assistance Project. This work has already started.

Apart from these, the Principal Secretary of the Revenue department said that Geo-mapping software has been launched in the state to improve the land map. NGDRS software has been launched for the convenience of the people in the Registry Office. He also elaborated on online e-citizen services, revenue court case monitoring system, online payment of land revenue, e-R&R services etc. He said that the work of a revisional survey in the revenue ‘Moujas’ of the state will be completed this year itself.

In the press conference, senior officials including Additional Secretary Anindya Bhattacharjee and Additional Secretary Pradip Acharjee were also present.
