Arunachal Pradesh : Lumla MLA – Jambey Tashi Passes Away In Guwahati

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator from Lumla Assembly Constituency – Jambe Tashi, passed away on Wednesday at the Guwahati’s Downtown Hospital. He was 44-years-old.

The dynamic leader was elected as MLA 3 times since 2009, and also served as a member of the National Minority Morcha of BJP.

The Government of Arunachal Pradesh condoled the untimely demise of the leader through it’s official twitter handle. “Deeply saddened by the sudden demise of HMLA of Lumla, Shri Jambey Tashi ji. Our state may have lost one dynamic leader, but his contributions to the state will always be cherished. Our condolences to his family and well-wishers at this darkest hour. May his soul #RestInPeace” – it wrote.

The Union Minister of Law & Justice – Kiren Rijiju also condoled the untimely demise of the devoted leader. Taking to Twitter, Rijiju wrote “I’m deeply shocked by the sad demise of young & very devoted Lumla MLA, Jambey Tashi. He has been like my younger brother since young age. He was always committed to serve the society. My deepest condolences to family members. I pray for the eternal peace of his departed soul.”

Mourning the untimely demise of the legislator, the Deputy CM of Arunachal Pradesh stated “Extremely shocking and disturbing to hear about the news of sudden demise of my young colleague Shri Jambey Tashi ji, Hon’ble MLA of Lumla Assembly Constituency cum Advisor to Minister (Planning & Investment) at a Private Hospital in Guwahati this morning.”

“He was one of the most dynamic, young, energetic & hard working leader of the present time. His untimely demise is a great loss to the State. My deepest condolences to the bereaving family & prayer for eternal peace of the departed soul. ay Lord Buddha give them enough strength to cope with the trying times.” – he added.

In 2009, Tashi was elected unopposed from 1-Lumla S/T Assembly constituency on a Congress ticket. In the 2014 elections for the 1-Lumla Legislative Assembly of Arunachal Pradesh, he defeated Independent candidate Theg Tse Rinpoche, on a Congress ticket, by 1499 votes.

Whereas, in 2019 Legislative Assembly elections, he contested on a BJP ticket and defeated Jampa Thrinly Kunkhap of NPP by 1288 votes. Jambey Tashi garnered 4567 votes while Jampa Thrinly Kunkhap attained only 3279 votes.
