The Tripura Chief Minister – Dr. Manik Saha, will inaugurate the two-day ‘Northeast Regional Security Coordination Conference’ on November 8. The Director General of Police (DGP), Heads of Central Police Organizations, and Central Armed Police forces of the region will attend the conference.
Besides, the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), and officials from central intelligence agencies, are scheduled to attend the regional security meet.
“The regional security meeting aims to enhance coordination among the Central and state security agencies. Insurgency, border-related issues, including drug menace, and sharing of intelligence inputs are among the top agenda of the meeting,” – informed an official.
It will deliberate on the growing security concern along the international border with China, Myanmar, and Bangladesh.
“Anti-Indian forces are still active across the border to create unrest in the Northeast. Be it arms smuggling, narcotics supply, or circulation of fake Indian currency notes and insurgency – all originated from our neighbors. Hopefully, these issues will come up for discussion at the conference, and find a way to handle the emerging situation,” he said.
