The Manipur Health & Family Welfare Minister – Dr. S. Ranjan Singh on Wednesday, directed all health officials to implement stringent regulations to prevent female foeticide.
He asserted the same, while convening a meeting with the State Supervisory Board (SSB), deliberating to strengthen the implementation of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act/Rules in Manipur. The Act intends to stop female foeticides and prohibit the prenatal sex determination.
During the meeting, the Minister also deliberated upon the various measures to prevent gender discrimination and female foeticide, thereby improving the sex ratio in the state.
He also reiterated on gender-based violence and legal care for survivors of sexual violence under PCPNDT programme.
