Chief Minister Dr Saha inaugurated the “Krishak Gyanarjon Kendra” (Farmers’ Knowledge Centre) and distribution of various supporting materials among the farmers under the initiative of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare department’s Dukli Agricultural Division at Sekerkote in West Tripura district on Thursday morning.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Dr Saha said the people are presently watching the work of government in the state and so much work has been done under the current government that it is now difficult to figure out the time to inaugurate it.

The Chief Minister also said that the Prime Minister of the country Narendra Modi is also constantly taking various initiatives for the overall welfare of the farmers. He has taken initiative to double the income of farmers. In Tripura, the average income of farmers in the financial year 2015-16 was Rs 6,500, but it has increased to around Rs 13,000 at present. He said that the role of farmers is immense in building a self-reliant India and a self-reliant Tripura.
