India’s First Voter Passed Away In Himachal Pradesh; To Be Cremated With State Honors

India’s first voter Shyam Saran Negi passed away on Saturday morning at his residence in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur. He was 106.

According to the Election Commission, on November 3, Negi had casted his vote for the state’s Assembly polls through postal ballot. Negi was the brand ambassador for the Election Commission.

Taking to Twitter, the Himachal Chief Minister – Jai Ram Thakur condoled the demise of Negi.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kinnaur – Abid Hussian Sadiq said Negi will be cremated with full state honours. The officer had felicitated the centenarian at his residence.

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Himachal Pradesh – Maneesh Garg said election officials from the district will attend his funeral.
