Arunachal Pradesh: Last Rites Of BJP Legislator – Jambey Tashi Performed At Muyu Village

The last rites of sitting BJP MLA – Jambey Tashi were performed at Muyu village in Arunachal Pradesh on Monday amidst gathering of thousands of people from all over the state.

Besides, the Chief Minister – Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister – Chowna Mein, Speaker – Passang Dorjee Sona, ministers and MLAs attended the last rites of the MLA to bid final adieu to the dynamic leader.

The Arunachal CM with heavy heart finally bid adieu to late Jambey Tashi. “With heavy heart I finally bid goodbye to late Brother Shri Jambey Tashi Ji, Hon MLA of Lumla Assembly constituency, who passed away on November 2. Joined the funeral rites at Lungla in Tawang district, today. Dear Brother, may you attain supreme bliss of Nirvana.” he wrote.

He passed away due to prolonged illness at the Guwahati’s Downtown Hospital on November 2. He was 44-years-old.

Tashi is survived by his wife, two daughters and one son. The dynamic leader was elected as MLA 3 times since 2009, and also served as a member of the National Minority Morcha of BJP.

In 2009, Tashi was elected unopposed from 1-Lumla S/T Assembly constituency on a Congress ticket. In the 2014 elections for the 1-Lumla Legislative Assembly of Arunachal Pradesh, he defeated Independent candidate Theg Tse Rinpoche, on a Congress ticket, by 1499 votes.

Whereas, in 2019 Legislative Assembly elections, he contested on a BJP ticket and defeated Jampa Thrinly Kunkhap of NPP by 1288 votes. Jambey Tashi garnered 4567 votes while Jampa Thrinly Kunkhap attained only 3279 votes.
