Agartala, November 07, 2022: With the directives of All India Congress Committee, Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee is going to start “Bharat Jodo Yatra” and “Tripura Bachao” from November 19 next on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, said PCC president Birajit Sinha on Monday.
In a press conference at Congress Bhavan here in Agartala city, PCC president Sinha said that the All India Congress Committee has assigned MLA and former minister Sudip Roy Barman as the chairman for this “Bharat Jodo Yatra” & “Tripura Bachao”.
Former Congress MP and In-Charge of Nagaland, Tripura & Sikkim states Dr Ajoy Kumar on November 03 last addressed a letter to Tripura’s Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman asking him to work in close coordination with the PCC and submit the list to the AICC secretary.
Sinha said that 16 centres have been formed for 60 assembly constituencies for this yatra and responsible leaders will be assigned responsibility in these centres.
“The central leaders will also come here to participate in this rally. At Agartala, AICC general secretary and media in-charge Jayram Ramesh will inaugurate this yatra. At Dharmanagar and Kailashahar, Dr Ajoy Kumar will inaugurate the yatra. In this yatra, members and workers of PCC will participate from all the 60 assembly constituencies”, he added.
The letter of Dr Ajoy Kumar addressed to MLA Roy Barman also reads “Each team leader to be a chief enroller with the app installed in his phone so that they can enroll during the yatra and ensure atleast 500 numbers of membership during each day of the yatra. Those candidates who have expressed their willingness to contest have to enrol atleast 5,000 members failing which they may not be considered for the same, no matter how senior leader they may be. The team leader will identify strong aspiring candidates for assembly elections is identified.”
