The Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya – Prestone Tynsong, on November 7, noted that the maintenance of dilapidated National Highway-6 from Mawryngkneng to Jowai will begin soon.
According to Tynsong, the central government will sanction Rs 70 crore to repair the stretch.
Given the matter, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) submitted a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).
“Once the sanction is accorded, the tender will be called. The road will be repaired within a few months,” – Tynsong assured.
He added that the DPR includes the Jowai bypass till the 4th Mile. It is worth noting that the East Jaintia National Council (EJNC) sought the intervention of the Deputy CM in the matter.
