The Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) leader – PD Rai, lamented the State Election Commission (SEC) for failing to conduct free & fair elections, citing the body as “incompetent”.

“We have submitted two memorandums to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEO), but sadly they have not taken any cognizance. The SEC, an autonomous body, violated the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). They have not responded to any violations and did not clarify their side,” – he stated.

Rai further condemned the election procedures and directed the Commissioner to provide written clarification on the matter. They can also clarify through press conferences and deny the allegations.

He lashed out at the administration and noted that the ruling administration is unfit to come into power.

“In my opinion, the CEO is incompetent and must be held accountable for violation of the norms,” – he added.
