Projects Worth Of Rs 44,000 Crores Announced To Boost Connectivity In Arunachal Pradesh

The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways – Nitin Gadkari announced numerous National Highway (NH) projects worth of Rs 44,000 Crores to strengthen border security & boost connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh.

These projects have been announced during a review meeting of the north eastern states on National Highways (NHs) construction work held at Guwahati.

Expressing gratitude toward PM Modi and the Union Minister – Nitin Gadkari, the Arunachal Chief Minister – Pema Khandu noted that the effort will provide a robust network of roads in state, which will usher unprecedented economic prosperity.

These projects include – Two lane Frontier Highway of 1465 kms (Rs. 27,349 Crores); Two lane inter-connectivity corridor of 1048 kms (Rs. 15,720 Crores); Two lane Brahmakund (Parshuramkund) to Chowkham of 61 kms (Rs. 915 Crores).

The Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of these upcoming projects with total 2574 kms is under progress.

According to official release, the two-lane frontier highway will pass through districts of East Kameng, West Kameng, Upper Subansiri, Upper Siang, Dibang Valley, Lohit & Anjaw. It will safeguard the Indo-Myanmar border, control migration from border areas and improve tourism infrastructure.

The two-lane inter-connectivity corridor will pass through Upper Siang, Upper Subansiri, East Kameng, Tawang, East and West Siang. It will bridge the gaps between NH-52 in Assam, Trans Arunachal and Frontier Highway.

Besides, the two-lane Brahmakund (Parshuramkund) to Chowkham Road project by National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) will improve connectivity with tourist destinations, like – Parshuram Kund and Lohit Valley. This strategic road will be used for defence purposes.

Meanwhile, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between the Tripura Government and National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) to facilitate connectivity through quality mobility solutions and develop ropeways in the state.

The MoU was signed by state Transport department special secretary Parul Gaur Mittal and NHLML CEO Prakash Gaur in the presence of Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
