The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) noted that the 10-point Commitment adopted by the Nagaland Baptist Church Council’s (NBCC) during sesquicentennial celebrations was addressed to politicians and government employees.
According to a press release issued by the NPCC President – K. Therie, “All they want is politicians and government employees to change. There is no point that can be ignored. It is also a call to all sections of the people of Nagaland.”
“Today with 95% Christian rural population we celebrate 150 years of Christianity. As a layman Christian, deep in my heart I feel unqualified to celebrate for I believe one can celebrate only when one is satisfied with performance. Nagaland is known as a Christian State by even BJP and RSS. Nagaland has many Judas Iscariots,” – he stated.
Therie mentioned that the Church hopes all citizens stand true to apostolic faith deep rooted in the Bible and strong in the foundational doctrinal affirmations.
“To actively participate in the task of caring for God’s creations, taking our duty and privileges as custodians of the earth seriously and working towards retaining the original state of goodness is of utmost importance. It is also a call for us to work for greater unity and better understanding amongst various groups of people through cessation of selfish pursuits and conflicts that divide and damage the historical harmony of Nagas. This call is a reflection of the present disorderly situation that shames our Christian State. I hope the deliberation will strengthen us all,” – he added.
