South Asia’s largest film networking platform – ‘Film Bazaar’ has featured the Manipur Pavilion held alongside the 53rd edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI)-2022 at Panaji, Goa.
It was officially unveiled by the IAS official – Armstrong Pame, right after the Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting – Anurag Thakur formally inaugurated the ‘Film Bazaar’ as part of the 53rd IFFI at a special venue in Marriot Resort Hotel, Goa on Monday.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Pame stated that the concerned ministry will provide a complimentary stall, and a deposit amount of Rs 12 lakh will be provided, in commemoration of the 50 glorious years of Manipuri Cinema.
Armstrong Pame emphasized the significance of Manipuri Cinema in enhancing the state’s economy, and claimed that the industry requires prompt upgradation.
He stated that Manipuri film industry is focusing to develop regional films to partially alleviate the state’s unemployment crisis, and stressed the requisite measures for Manipur to have an effective film policy, similar to the Rajasthan model.
The ministry will explore the possibility of setting up a regional office of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in Manipur, the IAS officer added.
Additionally, he urged the Manipur representatives at IFFI-2022 to emphasize the film-friendly aspects in order to draw possible financiers and collaborators.
Notably, several filmmakers from big cities like Mumbai have shown a strong desire to work with Manipur and choose the northeastern state as their next shooting location.
