Agartala, November 22, 2022: Tripura Chief Minister Prof Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday inspected the G+7 building of the Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) Hospital here in Agartala city for the proposed Dental College.
During the visit, the Chief Minister reviewed all the infrastructural development of the dental college and gave necessary advice to the concerned officials.
After the visit, a high-level meeting was held in the office of Medical Superintendent of IGM Hospital in the presence of Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department Dr Debasish Basu, Director of Health Services Dr Subhasish Debbarma, Medical Superintendent of IGM Hospital Dr Sharmila Sarkar, Deputy Director of Tripura Medical Service Dr Rajesh Acharya, Executive Engineer Dilip Kumar Roy and others were present in the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chief Minister Dr Saha said that the initiative has been taken to establish a Dental College in the state should be made successful with the joint efforts of all. He emphasized on speedy completion of all procedural aspects and directed the concerned officials to take all steps as per the guidelines of Dental Council of India. The issue of infrastructural development along with installation of medical equipment also dominated the discussion of the meeting, he added.
It is worthy to mention here that the Dental College is going to be opened in the state very soon at the premises of G+7 building of the IGM Hospital, Agartala. The college will be launched on the ground floor, fifth, sixth and seventh floors of the G+7 building of IGM Hospital.
Meanwhile, Secretary of the Indian Dental Association (IDA), Tripura State Branch Dr Sajal Nath told Northeast Today that the official delegation included two members of the DCI who visited the state on September 23 last and left on September 24 next. “They arrived here to inspect and scrutinize the necessary documents, took a list of proposed faculties, etc. and a compiled report was submitted to the committee of the DCI and thereafter, the final call will be taken soon”, he added.
So far, a permanent place for setting up of the Dental College has been identified opposite to Shyamalima Apartments near ILS hospitals, Agartala. But at present, it will be opened at the new building of IGM Hospital here.
