The Mizoram Governor – Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati on Tuesday, felicitated the Aizawl Battalion, Serchhip Battalion and 18 other Ranks of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) at the Investiture Ceremony – 2022 in Raj Bhavan.
The ceremony, was introduced in 1957 by the then Meghalaya Governor to encourage the valiant soldiers of the paramilitary troop.
A total of 18 awardees were conferred with gold, silver and bronze Governor’s medals.
The Chief Secratary – Dr Renu Sharma, Major General Vinod Kumar Nambiar, YSM, SM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) – Brigadier Digvijay Singh, SM, Deputy Inspector General, Headquarters 23 Sectors and other dignitaries from military and various other government organizations attended the ceremony.
In addition, the Aizawl Batallion and Serchhip Battalion of Assam Rifles were also felicitated with Governor’s Citation for excellent work in the state of Mizoram.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor noted that the force have initiated commendable efforts under Civil Action programmes to tackle the drug menace in the state. The performance of Assam Rifles Pipe Band was also appreciated during the ceremony.
