The state-level ‘Kala Utsav’ organized by the Samagra Shiksha of the Education department, aims to promote artistic skills among school students.
Addressing the occasion at Tashi Namgyal Senior Secondary School in Sikkim, the Education Minister – K.N. Lepcha, noted that ‘Kala Utsav’ aims to promote the skills of pupils, and inculcate the habit of creative thinking among them.
A total of 82 participants from 42 schools presented their performances. The winners of the state-level competition will participate at the national level.
Kala Utsav is an initiative of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education (MoE), launched in 2015.
It intends to nurture and showcase the artistic talent of school students. The Ministry of Education (MoE) recognizes the importance of aesthetics and artistic experiences of secondary-level students, which plays a significant role in raising awareness about India’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant diversity.
The initiative is guided, in accordance with the recommendations of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF–2005).
Earlier, the Joint Director of the Education Department – Kabita Moktan, delivered a brief report on Kala Utsav 2022-2023.
The one-day Kala Utsav programme concluded with valuable suggestions by the State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha, feedback from the Judges, and words of thanks proposed by Sushil Tamang, Coordinator of Samagra Shiksha.
