Agartala, November 25, 2022: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Tripura Regional Office, Agartala conducted State level Unit Cost Committee (SLUCC) meeting on Thursday last for finalizing unit costs for various activities under agri and allied sectors.
The Unit Costs serve as reference for banks in financing medium and long term loans for different activities under the agri & allied sector and facilitates enhancement of credit flow to the sector.
Loken Das, General Manager and Officer in Charge of the NABARD presided over the meeting. Convenor SLBC Anand Kumar, DCF Mahender Singh, IFS from Forest Department, SP Das, Joint Director of the ICAR participated in the meeting with senior officials from line departments of state government such as Agriculture, PWD, Horticulture, Fisheries, ARDD etc.
Representatives of the College of Agriculture and College of Fisheries Tripura State Cooperative Bank, Tripura Gramin Bank and commercial banks and institutions along with officers of NABARD participated in the meeting.
In his address, NABARD GM Das highlighted the trend of declining GLC under investment credit in the state and urged the bankers to focus on some of the potential activities to increase GLC like renewable energy, agro-processing, custom hiring centres, milk processing, etc.
He also requested line departments and banks to increase awareness among farmers about the latest technologies and investment options, which may contribute towards raising the income of farmers.
The SLUCC, after detailed discussion, decided to finalize the unit costs for investment credit activities under agriculture and allied sectors for the next financial year i.e., 2023-24 for the state based on the suggestions from the departments, academic institutions, SLBC and banks present in the meeting.
