The Director of Women Resource Development – Vilone Sakhrie, recently inaugurated the ‘Women Resource Centre (WRC)’ at Mokokchung.
During the inaugural ceremony, Sakhrie apprised the gathering that due to the pandemic and post-pandemic challenges, the inauguration of the Centre was delayed.
He assured that various women-centric programmes and activities shall be implemented as per the needs and requirements of the District.
Sakhrie lauded the department’s long partnership with the Watsu Mungdang for implementing various programmes in the district, and sensed the need to upgrade the skills and activities of the women in the district.
He further assured that, in line with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) inked between the two parties, various collaborative activities will be charted and implemented accordingly.
The President of Watsu Mungdang – S. Arenla Longkumer, delivered a summary on how the concept of the Women Resource Centre, Mokokchung was conceived and pursued by Watsu Mungdang.
She elaborated on the vision of Watsu Mungdang about the future programmes and activities, which will be initiated by the body.
The WRDO & Officers In-Charge of Mokokchung – T. Thungbemo Patton, informed that the basic foundation of cooperation between the Department and Watsu Mungdang shall be based on the MoU inked between the two parties on February 20, 2020 in the Office Chamber of Commissioner & Secretary, Women Resource Development.
He informed that the pact aimed to bring the socio-economic empowerment in Nagaland and both parties will collaborate along various areas in the future.
The Inaugural programme was followed by the training of 30 beneficiaries on Post-Harvest, Processing, and Value Addition under the initiatives of the Assistant Director & Officer in charge of Food Processing – Nzanthung K Yanthan.
