Agartala, December 06, 2022: Tripura has witnessed two rape cases at Killa in Gomati district and Chailengta in Dhalai district on Monday, while four persons were arrested through the prompt action initiated by security forces.

According to a press communique issued by Tripura’s AIGP (Law and Order), the rape of a 15-years-old minor girl is reported at Killa Police Station under Gomati district.

On receiving the complaint, police immediately registered a specific case against the alleged persons vide Killa police station case number 27/2022 dated December 05 under sections 376DA of IPC and 6 of POCSO Act 2012 and took up its investigation. Necessary legal steps have been taken including medical checkup of the victim.

During investigation, police arrested the accused persons namely Despi Jamatia (18) of Raiya (Saka) area, Ananda Kishore Jamatia (21) of Rothua Charra and Khasrang Jamatia alias Sakla (24) of Raiyabari, within a few hours. The accused persons will be forwarded to the court for further legal action and investigation is in progress.

Meanwhile, a minor girl, approximately 13 years old, was allegedly raped at Chailengta Police Station in Dhalai district.

On receiving the complaint, police immediately registered a specific case against the alleged person vide Chailengta police station case number 26/2022 dated December 05 under section 376(3) of IPC and 4 of POCSO Act 2012 and took up its investigation. Necessary legal steps have been taken, including medical check-up of the victim.

During the investigation, police arrested the accused person, namely Ashit Debbarma (23) of South Lalcharra under Chailengta Police Station within a few hours. The accused persons will be forwarded to the court for further legal action and the investigation underway.
