Agartala, April 24, 2023: Altogether 42,481 people donated blood in 2022-23 financial year across Tripura, former Education minister and incumbent Power minister Ratan Lal Nath said while inaugurating a mega blood donation camp organized by the newly appointed TET teachers at Agartala Press Club on Sunday.
“In response to the appeal of Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha and his government, the blood donation camps are being organized like festivals throughout the state. Accordingly, people came forward and donated blood voluntarily. According to the records, 42,481 people donated blood in 2022-23 fiscal year while over 4800 units were recorded in December 2022 and over 4300 units in March 2023”, he said.
According to him, this change had come amongst people after the formation of new government in 2018. “People have to be positive in nature. People’s mind-set have changed. For a long period, people were instigated to develop a negative mind-set. Every development is happening across the state. Tripura is an extraordinary state as the government had recruited all TET qualified teachers. That means we can. There is nothing negative”, he added.
“Donating blood is a service to mankind. There was a phobia of donating blood, but now it has reduced a lot and women are also donating blood. Everything has alternative thing, but blood has no alternative. There are 42 lakh 22 thousand populace in Tripura, 1 percent is the need of blood i.e. we need 42 thousand unit of blood”, minister said.
Power minister also conveyed the message of greetings shared by Chief Minister Dr Saha.
Targeting the newly appointed TET teachers, Nath said “You people are educated with quality education. There’s a popular quote of NSS i.e. ‘Not Me, But You’. I have taken birth not for myself, but for others. Now, such mentality has grown amongst many.”
