Agartala, April 25, 2023: An image of helplessness emerged on the midnight of Monday last at Tripura’s Phulkumari area under Gomati district where an ill-fated parents made a bitter plea before state police for putting their drug-addict son in jail for a few months as they want to save their lives from his violent activities.
Reportedly, Tapan Nag, a resident of Phulkumari area in Udaipur sub-division under Gomati district is living with his wife and two sons for many years. Tapan is an auto-rickshaw driver by profession and supporting his family with what he earns by driving the auto-rickshaw every day.
Meanwhile, Pankaj, the elder son, got addicted to drugs by befriending with some rowdy youths of the locality. Despite many efforts, the family members failed to remove the addiction from his throat. Later, it is found that Pankaj is selling household goods without informing his family members if he is not being given pocket money. At one time, the elder son never have second thought of beating his own mother if she does not pay for the drugs. Last night, Pankaj severely beat his mother Shipra Barua Nag.
Seeing this severe move of their elder son, Tapan and Shipra rushed to Radha Kishore Pur police station on the night of Monday last. They demanded that their son be sent to jail for a few months and need to be released once he is no more addicted. They claimed that if their elder son Pankaj is not put into the jail, then their death will become inevitable.
An official of the Radha Kishore Pur police station informed Northeast Today that the complaint lodged by Tapan Nag and his wife Shipra Nag were registered. Accordingly, police went to the house of Tapan last night for detaining their son Pankaj, but he was absconding. However, police launched a search operation to nab him.
The police official also said that the youth will be detaining him soon and interrogate to find out from whom he is purchasing drugs and who are his accomplices in Phulkumari area.
