Guwahati, July 29, 2023: A horrifying incident has come to light at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Silchar, where a group of hostel boarders allegedly assaulted three cooks. The distressing event, which took place on July 26 last, was captured in a viral video showing the students violently beating the cooks.
According to reports, the incident was triggered when a mobile phone belonging to one of the hostel boarders went missing. The students accused the cooks of stealing the phone, leading to the alleged assault.
The victims, identified as Biki Ri, Mona Das, and Rajkumar Dhaushad, were rushed to a nearby hospital immediately after the brutal attack. The video evidence depicts the cooks being repeatedly thrashed with sticks, while the students also resorted to kicking and punching them. Shockingly, despite the presence of security guards, no intervention was made, and they merely stood by as the cooks endured the vicious assault.

The incident has sparked outrage among the public, who are demanding strict action against the students responsible for the assault. Concerned citizens have expressed their displeasure and called for justice to be served.
In response to the incident, NIT authorities have taken action by forming a committee to investigate the matter thoroughly. The authorities are committed to ensuring that those involved in the reprehensible act are held accountable for their actions. Further updates will follow as the investigation progresses.
