Guwahati, August 01, 2023: Under the flagship initiative of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), a substantial infrastructure project has been sanctioned by the Government of India’s Ministry of Rural Development.
The ambitious project involves upgrading 91 roads, covering a total length of 720.75 kilometers, and constructing 30 Long Span bridges in Arunachal Pradesh, with an estimated cost of Rs 757.58 crore.
The primary objective of this endeavour is to significantly enhance rural road connectivity to 500 habitations spread across various districts in the state. The districts benefiting from this development initiative include Changlang, Dibang Valley, East Kameng, East Siang, Kamale, Kra Daadi, Kurung Kumey, Lepa Rada, Lohit, Longding, Lower Dibang Valley, Lower Siang, Lower Subansiri, Namsai, Pakke Kessang, Papum Pare, Siang, Tawang, Tirap, Upper Siang, Upper Subansiri, West Kameng, and West Siang.
The driving force behind this crucial project is none other than Union Minister for Earth Sciences and Member of Parliament, Arunachal Pradesh (West), Kiren Rijiju. His dedication to the development of rural Arunachal Pradesh is evident in his pursuit of this vital initiative, as stated in an official press release. The release further affirms that more such development projects are in the pipeline and will be undertaken in the coming five years.
According to the official statement, the execution of these road and bridge projects is anticipated to trigger a positive socio-economic transformation in Arunachal Pradesh.
The improved infrastructure resulting from this project will facilitate better accessibility to remote areas, ultimately benefiting students, farmers, and patients, and thereby fostering overall growth and prosperity in the region.
