‘Assam Tourism Service Rules’ Amended, Two Posts Re-Designated

Guwahati, August 03, 2023: The Assam government has approved an amendment in the Assam Tourism Service Rules, 2023, in a recent cabinet meeting, to re-designate two key posts within the Assam Tourism Service.

According to the amendment, the post of ‘Tourist Information Officer’ will be renamed as ‘Tourism Development Officer’, to reflect the wider scope of duties beyond providing information.

The new name will also highlight the role’s importance in the overall development of tourism in the state.

Similarly, the post of ‘Assistant Tourist Information Officer’ will be changed to ‘Assistant Tourism Development Officer’, to acknowledge the dynamic nature of the job, involving active participation in the growth of the tourism sector.
