Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Monday that some individuals are obstructing India’s path to becoming a developed nation, and citizens are now demanding an end to issues like corruption and appeasement, echoing the ‘Quit India’ movement.
During the National Handloom Day celebration at Bharat Mandapam, he highlighted a new revolution regarding Swadeshi in the country and urged people to support local products during upcoming festivals.
Modi also spoke about the rise of a ‘neo-middle class,’ which presents significant opportunities for textile companies.
In a veiled reference to the Opposition bloc ‘I.N.D.I.A’, Modi emphasized that the country is now united in asking corruption, dynasty politics, and appeasement to “Quit India.”
He praised the growing popularity of Khadi and its increased sales, which rose from Rs 25,000-30,000 crore before 2014 to Rs 1.30 lakh crore.
Modi expressed the desire to make India’s handloom, Khadi, and the textile sector globally competitive.
Additionally, he mentioned the ‘One District, One Product’ initiative, promoting unique products from different districts, and the establishment of ‘Ekta Malls’ across the country, similar to the one at ‘Statue of Unity’ in Gujarat.
The Prime Minister encouraged the textile and fashion industry to expand their scope and contribute significantly to elevate India to become one of the world’s top three economies.
