Tripura CM Dr Manik Saha Praises Modi Government’s Act East Policy For Northeast Connectivity Boost

Guwahati, August 07, 2023: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha commends the Modi government’s Act East policy for transforming Northeast India’s connectivity landscape.

He highlights the remarkable progress witnessed in recent years, emphasizing the significance of the Agartala-Sabroom broad gauge railway line, a development that was once unimaginable for the people of Tripura.

Speaking at the Agartala railway station, Saha hails Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a visionary leader whose leadership has made such advancements possible. During the virtual foundation stone laying ceremony for the redevelopment of 508 railway stations across India, including three in Tripura, the Chief Minister credits the Act East policy for positively impacting the entire Northeast region.

Saha predicts a bright future for Tripura, with plans for the Indo-Bangla railway link (Agartala-Gangasagar) nearing completion. Once operational, it is expected to significantly reduce travel time to Kolkata, further enhancing connectivity.

He also highlights the Amrit Bharat Stations project, focusing on the redevelopment of 91 stations in the Northeast, with a budget of Rs 96.60 crore allocated to enhance the facilities at Udaipur, Dharmanagar, and Kumarghat railway stations in Tripura.

In conclusion, Chief Minister Saha expresses gratitude to the Prime Minister and Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnaw for their commitment to the development of Northeastern states, stating that the region is reaping the benefits of a “double engine government.”
