Tripura To Celebrate ‘Mayer Gaman’ Carnival In Agartala On Thursday

Agartala, October 25, 2023: The Tripura government is all set to organize a grand carnival on Thursday, October 19, 2023, to mark the end of the Durga Puja festivities. The carnival, named ‘Mayer Gaman’, meaning ‘Mother’s Departure’, will showcase the cultural diversity and artistic talent of the state.

The carnival will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha at 5 pm in front of the City Centre in Agartala, the capital city of Tripura. He will be accompanied by Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Minister Tinku Roy, Mayor Dipak Majumdar and other dignitaries.

The carnival will feature a procession of floats and tableaux from various puja organizers and clubs in Agartala. The procession will start from the City Centre and pass through Post Office Chaumuhani and Paradise Chaumuhani, where thousands of spectators are expected to gather.

Mayor Majumdar visited the venue on Wednesday to inspect the preparations for the carnival. He said that this year, Agartala witnessed a large number of visitors for the Durga Puja celebrations. He expressed hope that the carnival will also attract a huge crowd and showcase the rich culture and heritage of Tripura.

The ‘Mayer Gaman’ Carnival is an initiative of the state government in Tripura and is guided by the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs. The carnival aims to promote tourism and social harmony in the state.
