In a significant operation in Mizoram’s Champhai district close to the India-Myanmar border on October 25,a substantial quantity of foreign liquor and cigarettes, valued at Rs 26.68 lakh, was confiscated by a joint effort of Assam Rifles and Mizoram customs officials. Acting on a tip-off, these law enforcement agencies successfully intercepted the illicit consignment.
The operation, conducted in the general area between Zokhawthar-Melbuk Road in Champhai district, resulted in the seizure of six cases of foreign liquor and 21 cases of foreign cigarettes.
Reportedly,the seized contraband has been promptly handed over to the Customs department for further legal proceedings.
