Agartala, December 08, 2023: Tripura’s Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Thursday revealed that the state government has allocated 15 government jobs under a comprehensive scheme aimed at supporting families affected by political terrorism. Minister Nath made this announcement, shedding light on the government’s commitment to aiding the families of those who lost their lives in political violence prior to March 9, 2018.
Minister Nath explained that the current state government, having assumed office, took a proactive stance on December 23, 2020 in standing by families that suffered politically motivated losses before the specified date. The government decided to provide one government job to each affected family, a decision that was meticulously executed through the establishment of a scrutiny committee.
The committee, reconstituted on June 14, 2023, is currently chaired by Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratanlal Nath, with the Director of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department serving as the convener. Other notable members include the Law Secretary, Secretary of the ICA Department, and Additional Secretary of the Home Department.
To date, 26 applications have been submitted by politically affected families. The committee has scrutinized these applications and recommended 15 individuals for government jobs based on their investigations and assessments. Notably, these decisions are made in accordance with the recommendations provided by the committee.
Minister Nath conveyed that during the committee’s recent meeting, held today, they reviewed six additional applications and proposed job allocations for three more families. He further emphasized that families, whose members were victims of political terrorism before March 1, 2018, and have not yet applied for government assistance, are encouraged to visit the office of the respective Sub-Divisional Magistrate and submit applications using the prescribed forms.
The state government remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting and uplifting families affected by political violence, ensuring that they receive the necessary assistance and opportunities for a better future.
