The residents of Bokakhat in Assam’s Golaghat district lit one lakh diyas on Thursday to extend a heartfelt welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is set to embark on his first visit to the UNESCO heritage site, Kaziranga National Park, today, on 8th March.
During his two-day visit to Assam, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit the iconic Kaziranga National Park, where he will undertake a safari, marking a historic moment, as reported.
The Prime Minister is also reportedly slated to stay overnight, further underscoring the significance of the visit.
Notably, Prime Minister Modi is poised to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for a slew of development projects in Assam, including the Rs 3,992 crore pipeline project from Barauni to Guwahati.
PM is also likely to unveil the nearly completed 135 feet statue of great Ahom warrior Lachit Barphukan in Jorhat, as per reports.
The expansion of Digboi Refinery and Guwahati Refinery, with costs of Rs 768 crores and Rs 510 crores respectively, will also reportedly witness foundation stone laying.
Adding to the eventful itinerary, PM Modi is set to address a rally at Meleng Meteli, where he will also inaugurate various projects undertaken by both the central and state governments.
As part of the visit, Prime Minister Modi will perform the ‘Griha Pravesh’ ceremony for 5.5 lakh houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), as reported.
Additionally, he will, as reported, lay the foundation stone for Sivasagar Medical College, emphasizing the government’s commitment to healthcare infrastructure.
In preparation for Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, the Kaziranga range of Kohora will observe the temporary closure of jeep safari and elephant rides from March 7 to 9, as per reports.
