In a proud moment for the state, Asum Tamut of Arunachal Pradesh has clinched the gold medal at the 7th MMA National Championship, held in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
Competing in the strawweight (-52.2 kg) category, Tamut exhibited exceptional prowess to defeat Priyanshi Baghel of the host state in a closely contested match.
Hailing from the scenic Lileng village in Siang district, Tamut’s victory serves as a testament to her dedication and hard work in the realm of mixed martial arts.
Notably, Tamut’s triumph was further complemented by the commendable performances of her fellow Arunachal Pradesh athletes.
Yumter Taipodia, Tadar Righi, and Kamjo Taku clinched bronze medals in their respective weight categories, adding to the state’s tally of achievements in the championship.
Taipodia secured bronze in the (-77kg) category, while Righi and Taku claimed bronze in the (-66kg) and (-56kg) categories, respectively.
Expressing his elation and pride, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu extended his heartfelt congratulations to Asum Tamut and the other medalists.
He lauded Tamut’s victory as a source of inspiration for aspiring athletes across the region and commended the dedication and perseverance displayed by all participants from Arunachal Pradesh.
Khandu also conveyed his best wishes to the athletes for their future endeavors, expressing confidence in their continued success on both national and international platforms.
