The Dimapur Sumi Council (DSC) has appealed to the citizens of Dimapur to ensure free and fair urban local bodies (ULBs) elections.
In a press release, the DSC said it expect citizens to transcend narrow divisions such as tribalism, clanism, and groupism, and elect the rightful persons for the progress and upliftment of the society.
The society also earnestly urged all candidates to contest the elections through rightful means and not to use any form of foul practices or violence, thereby creating any unwanted situation.
The DSC also emphasised that every citizen should ensure that a peaceful polling environment in their respective areas takes place, setting a positive example.
Nagaland is set to conduct the Urban Local Bodies elections on June 26.
State Election Commission has notified the election programme for conduct of general election to three Municipal Councils and 36 Town Councils, as reported.
Reportedly, Nominations can be filed from 7th to 11th June, while scrutiny of validly presented nomination papers will be carried out on June 13.
The last date for withdrawal of candidature has been fixed on 20th June, with the lists of contesting candidates and polling stations published on the same day.
Re-poll, in any, will be conducted on June 28.
Counting of votes and declaration of results will be done of 29th of June.
