Arunachal Pradesh: Rehabilitation Centre Shut Down After Inmate’s Alleged Murder And Abuse

Itanagar, July 23: In a shocking turn of events, the Serene Life Foundation Drugs Rehabilitation Centre in Gumin Nagar, Pasighat, has been shut down by the District Magistrate, Tayi Taggu, following the alleged murder of an inmate, Olip Mukherjee, and multiple incidents of abuse.

According to reports, the 21-year-old inmate was brutally beaten to death by the staff at the centre, sparking widespread outrage. Disturbing visual circulating on social media has brought the grim reality of the rehabilitation centre to light, showing inmates being tortured and physically abused.

The police have arrested 11 individuals in connection with the incident and have discovered that the centre was operating without the necessary permissions.

The incident has raised serious concerns about the functioning of rehabilitation centres in the state and the need for stricter regulations and monitoring.

The police have lodged an FIR under Section 103(1)/3(5) BNS and are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
