In a significant development, former Assam police officer Anand Mishra has joined Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party. Mishra, who resigned from the Indian Police Service to focus on social service through politics, had previously contested the Lok Sabha general elections as an independent candidate from Bihar’s Buxar.

Mishra’s decision to join Jan Suraaj Party comes ahead of the party’s official launch on October 2, 2024. The party, led by political strategist Prashant Kishor, is set to contest the Bihar assembly polls next year.

Mishra, known for his exemplary service as a ‘Supercop’, had lost to Rashtriya Janata Dal’s (RJD) Sudhakar Singh in the Lok Sabha elections. His joining Jan Suraaj Party is seen as a significant boost to the party’s prospects in Bihar.

Jan Suraaj Party, led by Prashant Kishor, aims to bring about a change in the political landscape of Bihar through its focus on social service and good governance.
