Agartala, August 08, 2024:  Tripura’s Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Thursday expressed his concerns over the current political turmoil in Bangladesh and its impact on key bilateral projects.

“An interim government will be formed in Bangladesh. Hence, the Maitri Bridge at Sabroom, the Agartala-Akhaura rail link, and the air service on the Agartala-Chittagong route are desired projects. As of now, all those projects have been stopped for now. But I strongly believe that the central government will take necessary steps in this regard,” he said.

Minister Chowdhury condemned the recent events in Bangladesh, describing them as a stain on civilized society. “The incident in Bangladesh is very sad. That event has defiled the civilized society. The Government of India strongly condemned and condemned it,” he stated. He emphasized the historical friendship between India and Bangladesh, asserting that “a barbed wire fence can never separate India and Bangladesh.”

He also highlighted the role of foreign powers in attempting to disrupt the relationship between the two nations. “Some foreign powers have conspired to destroy India’s relations with Bangladesh. But time will tell a lot in the future,” he remarked.

Addressing the democratic principles, Minister Chowdhury said, “No democratic government supports what has been done with the government elected by the people. Likewise, the Indian government has strongly condemned and condemned the incident. A reactionary force has given a negative message about Bengal to the whole world.”

Regarding the halted projects, he reiterated the importance of the Maitri Bridge, the Agartala-Akhaura rail link, and the Agartala-Chittagong air service. “It is not known what will be the policy of this interim government. India has never played a negative role with foreign powers. So, the inauguration of Maitri Bridge at Sabroom in South district, Agartala-Akhaura rail link and air service on Agartala-Chittagong route are desired projects. All those projects have been stopped for now. But I strongly believe that the central government will take necessary steps in this regard,” he concluded.

Minister Chowdhury’s statements reflect the Indian government’s stance on maintaining and strengthening its relationship with Bangladesh amidst the current political uncertainties.
