Guwahati, Aug 10: The Assam cabinet has approved the Land and Space Lease Management Policy, 2024, poised to catapult the state into a premier hub for IT parks and Electronics Manufacturing Clusters (EMCs).
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hailed the policy as a game-changer, stating it will significantly enhance Assam’s appeal to investors in the electronics and information technology sectors. The policy provides a structured framework for investors to access land and built-up space, covering all areas under the Assam Electronics Development Corporation Limited (AMTRON).
The policy is expected to generate:
– 8,000 direct jobs
– Over 1 lakh indirect employment opportunities
In a separate move, the cabinet accepted recommendations to alleviate challenges faced by small traders from GST-related notices, aiming to resolve cases within three months without causing taxpayer harassment.
– Cases from 2017-18 and 2018-19 will be rectified under Section 161 of the Assam GST Act, 2017
– Issues from 2019-20 to 2021-22 will be managed as per new SOP guidelines
