In a major operation, the Border Security Force (BSF), along with anti-human trafficking teams and intelligence units, apprehended 10 Bangladeshi nationals attempting to hide their identities using fake Aadhaar cards.
A search operation was conducted at suspected dropping points in Amtali and Dukli, West Tripura, based on specific inputs. The joint team apprehended 4 female Bangladeshi nationals, including a baby, at 0515 hours. Later, 6 more Bangladeshi nationals and 1 suspected Indian tout were apprehended at 0800 hours.
Initially, the apprehended individuals denied being Bangladeshi nationals, producing fake Aadhaar cards. However, during preliminary questioning, they admitted to being Bangladeshi nationals.
Further questioning is underway by BSF and GRP. The BSF has intensified its crackdown on the network of touts facilitating illegal entry of Bangladeshi nationals into Tripura.
In a separate incident, 16 Bangladeshi nationals, including 13 men and 3 women, were apprehended at Agartala Railway Station on Tuesday evening. Three individuals have been identified as Bangladeshi touts involved in illegal activities. A case has been registered at the Agartala GRPS under various sections of the law.
