Aizawl, August 29: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Mizoram Police have seized a massive consignment of 4 lakh Methamphetamine tablets worth over Rs 5 crore in the international market. Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the seizure.
A team of CID (Special Branch) conducted a covert operation, intercepting a goods carrier truck near Kulikawn East Presbyterian Church. The operation yielded 39.25 kilograms (4 lakh tablets) of suspected Meth tablets.
The seized contraband was found to be worth over Rs 5.10 crore. The tablets were concealed inside 17 electric air coolers, transported from Zokhawthar in east Mizoram’s Champhai district near the Myanmar border.
The driver and receiver of the psychotropic substance, aged 34 and 28 years, were arrested and booked under section 22(c)/25/29(1) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
