Imphal, Aug 30: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has strongly condemned West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s recent comments on the Northeast region, calling them “irresponsible” and “highly unbecoming of a political leader.”
In a scathing reaction on social media, Singh demanded a public apology from Banerjee, accusing her of inciting hate and violence with her “incendiary comments.” He urged her to cease “inciting violence and hatred with divisive politics” and halt “threats of violence” from public platforms.o
Singh’s criticism follows similar condemnation from Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who accused Banerjee of employing “politics of failure” and attempting to destabilize India. Sarma had responded to Banerjee’s statements, which he alleged linked ongoing protests in Kolkata to potential unrest in Assam and Delhi.
