Manipur Police has refuted claims circulating on social media that student protestors replaced the National Flag at the District Commissioner’s (DC) office in Thoubal.

According to the police, the reports are false. The protestors did not attempt to replace the National Flag, but rather an old and worn-out Salai Taret flag (a seven-colored flag) located at the gate of the DC office.

Following the confrontation, both the Salai Taret flags were removed from the gate after police dispersed the crowd. The police urged the public to refrain from sharing misleading information, which could inflame tensions in the region.
