Gangtok, September 10: The Sikkim State Karate-Do Association (SSKDA) team has made the state proud by clinching 38 medals at the 3rd KIO North East Karate Championship held in Guwahati, Assam, from September 6 to 8.
The team won 4 gold medals, 8 silver medals, and 26 bronze medals, showcasing their exceptional skills and talent in the championship.
Surakchya Rai, Mahima Sharma, Pragya Chettri, and Muskan Tamang each won a gold medal, while Manisha Rai bagged two silver medals.
Lediya Subba, Ishmorna Subba, Tensung N Bhutia, Deetya Pradhan, Zesura Tamang, and Bishal Bista each won a silver medal.
The bronze medalists include Manvika Chettri, Jikmee Bhutia, Jenson A Rai, Pemakim C Bhutia, and 20 others.
The team was accompanied by Dinesh Rai, Binam Gurung, and Bimala Tamang as team coaches and Bishnu Rai as team manager.
The gold and silver medallists have qualified for the upcoming KIO Zonal National Karate Championship.
