The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has successfully restored vehicular connectivity to the China border along Lachen Valley in North Sikkim, following devastating flash floods that destroyed 16 bridges and 20 km of roads.

The flash floods had severed the critical link between Lachen Valley and the China border, posing significant challenges to the region’s residents and security forces. However, BRO workers demonstrated exceptional resilience and engineering expertise to rebuild and reconnect the region in record time.

Despite the harsh climate and treacherous terrain, BRO constructed 5 km of new road through hard rock and erected multiple bailey bridges. This remarkable achievement showcases BRO’s unwavering commitment to national security and infrastructure development.
