Actor Bujou Thaangjam, known for his roles in Mary Kom and Shivaay, has publicly accused the casting team behind Alia Bhatt’s upcoming film Jigra of unprofessional conduct. Thaangjam made the allegations in a detailed post on the social media platform X, sharing his frustration with the casting process.
The actor stated that he initially didn’t want to cause any controversy but felt it was necessary to speak up. “Back in 2023, I was approached by their casting team to audition for a role. I sent my tapes twice over the span of four months, playing along with their timeline. By the end of November, they told me I’d be shooting in December—fantastic, right? Except they never gave me any firm shoot dates.”
Thaangjam, who is based in Imphal, Manipur, highlighted that despite repeatedly making it clear that travel arrangements needed to be made, the casting team never provided specific details. Instead, they allegedly kept him “booked” for the entire month of December, expecting him to be ready at a moment’s notice, leaving him in the dark throughout the month.
He expressed his frustration over losing other potential projects while waiting for the shoot dates that never materialized. Thaangjam also emphasized that as an actor from Northeast India, the treatment felt “particularly dismissive, almost discriminatory,” adding that his time and opportunities were wasted.
Thaangjam’s candid post sheds light on the difficulties actors often face in the film industry, particularly those from regions far removed from the industry’s central hubs.
