Manipur: Three Arrested For Burning Of SDC Kumbi Office In Bishnupur District

Manipur Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the arson attack on the Sub-Divisional Collector’s (SDC) office in Kumbi, which took place on 26th September 2024. The suspects, Moirangthem Ajaykumar (22) and Wahengbam Prabhakar (27) from Kumbi Thong Leikai, along with Khumanthem Jesper (23) from Kumbi Ishing Chaiba Leikai, confessed to the crime during interrogation.

Manipur Police Control room said “they were remanded into police custody for four days, beginning 15th October 2024”. Authorities continue their search for additional suspects and are pursuing legal action to ensure accountability for the damage caused to government property.

During the last 24 hours, the situation in the state was tense but under control, it stated.

Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts, it stated.

During the search operation, one 7.62 mm AK Rifle with magazine, one 7.62 SLR Rifle with magazine, one 9 mm SMG Rifle with magazine, one 9 mm Pistol with magazine, one 12 mm bore single Barrel Gun, six 36 live Hand Grenade, 58 live rounds ammunition, two detonator, two tube launcher, one wireless Handset (Baofeng) with charger, one BP jacket, two BP iron plate and five Arming Ring from Leirongthel Pitra Uyok Ching areas, Thoubal district, were seized.
