Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh met Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Sunday in New Delhi to discuss the development of a “world-class football stadium” in Manipur and other major projects in the state. He was accompanied by Youth Affairs Minister Govindas Konthoujam and other officials.
The meeting comes amid speculation of a potential leadership change in the state, following the circulation of a letter on social media purportedly from state legislators demanding Singh’s removal. Singh has been on a visit to Delhi since Wednesday, holding a series of meetings with political leaders.
Sharing details of his meeting with Rijiju on X (formerly Twitter), N.Biren Singh wrote, “Called on Shri @KirenRijiju Ji, Hon’ble Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs… We discussed advancing major development projects in the state under the purview of the Ministry of Minority Affairs. In addition, deliberated on developing a world-class football stadium in Manipur to nurture talent and uplift sportspersons.”
In another post, the Manipur CM highlighted discussions on new projects for the state. “Chaired a meeting with officials of the PWD in the presence of Hon’ble Minister Govindas Konthoujam and Chief Secretary Dr. Vineet Joshi. Had a productive discussion on effective execution of developmental works to enhance growth in both urban and rural sectors, while deliberating on new projects in the pipeline,” he posted.
