Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy Launches WiFi Facility in 19 Colleges

Agartala, October 21, 2024: Tripura’s Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Monday inaugurated WiFi connections in 19 out of 30 colleges in the state. The launch event took place at Netaji Subhash Mahavidyalaya in Udaipur under Gomati district, where the Minister pressed a button to officially activate the service.

The ceremony was attended by MLA Rampada Jamatia, Udaipur Municipal Council’s chairperson Shital Chandra Majumdar, District Magistrate Tarit Kanti Chakma, District Superintendent of Police Amit Pathak, Director of IT Sector Jaya Aragul Desan, Zilla Parishad member Samir Chakraborty and the principal of Netaji Subhash Mahavidyalaya.

The event began with an opening song performed by the students of the Mahavidyalaya, followed by traditional Tribal Hojagiri dances. A question and answer session with the Finance Minister was also held.

Speaking at the event, Minister Singha Roy stated, “Out of thirty colleges in the state, this WiFi service has been started in 19 colleges today. I urge the students to make good use of this environment.”

He emphasized the importance of digital connectivity in education and assured that the state government would take all necessary measures to protect students from cybercrime. “The state government will ensure that all safety protocols are in place to keep our students safe online,” he added.

The launch of the WiFi service marks a significant step towards enhancing digital infrastructure in the state’s educational institutions, providing students with better access to online resources and learning opportunities.
