In a significant security operation, Manipur’s security forces recovered an assortment of arms and explosives during search operations in Bishnupur and Imphal West districts, a police statement released on Friday revealed.
In Uyungmakhong, Bishnupur district, authorities confiscated a range of weapons, including one SLR 7.62 mm rifle, one magazine, six HE 36 grenades, four grenade arm rings, two tear gas grenades, three stinger grenades, five dual shells, two WT sets (Baofeng), an improvised explosive device (IED) weighing approximately 2.3 kg, and four HE 36 grenade detonators.
Meanwhile, in Shantipur Makha Leikai, Imphal West district, officials recovered a single-barrel gun, two locally-made 9 mm pistols with magazines, an empty 7.62 LMG magazine, three M-67 hand grenades with detonators, a tube launcher, and four rounds of live ammunition.
The recovered items were subsequently handed over to the relevant police stations for further necessary action, according to the statement.
